Swimming with our Cousins

The twins came over on Thursday morning to go swimming with us! Carter was his usual water-bug self. Gavin and Devin were very nervous in the water at first. Devin warmed up to it pretty quick, but poor Gavin spent almost the whole time standing by the edge with his floatie... he was content to just watch! He didn't move an inch until about 20 minutes before we left. He got brave enough and eventually did walk around the baby pool, and he even let Grandma take him into the big pool for a few minutes. I think they all had a great time!! Here are some pictures.

Carter & Devin
Carter loving the "rain"  -  Gavin being very cautious and staying close to the side
Devin getting comfortable in the water
They all loved playing with the cups.
My child, of course, tried to drink the chlorinated water. Yuck.
Devin accidentally walking into the rain...
he was quite shocked when it all came crashing down onto his face!
Devin
Gavin, you're still in the same spot!

This is the only shot I got of all 3 of them facing me!!
They were having so much fun together!
Grandma took Devin to jump in the big pool.
What better way to end a trip to the pool than a wagon ride for 3?!

Dilemma

Carter knows he's not supposed to touch the remote, but clearly, he's contemplating doing it anyway. To touch, or not to touch?

3 Years!

Eric and I are celebrating 3 wonderful years of marriage today! It doesn't seem like that is possible, but here we are! This past weekend we enjoyed a baby-free day (thanks to my MIL) filled with a little shopping, a movie, and a fantastic steak dinner at Pappa's Steakhouse. Anyway, just wanted to say Happy Anniversary to my love. Looking forward to SO many more!

Grandma & Grandpa's

We went up and spent some time at Eric's parent's this weekend. Carter had a blast, like he always does. He spent most of his time playing outside in the water, napping, and eating! What a life, huh? Here are some pictures of the weekend.
We ♥ playing outside!
But we ♥ playing inside, too!
Exploring and getting into trouble
First time in the lake! Didn't last long - it was too close to nap time!
Going for a ride with Daddy and Grandpa
A very tired boy after a long day of playing hard!
Dinner outside at the picnic table.... he's getting so big!
Yummy BBQ and okra
Look at that sweet little face.

And here is a funny video that Cindy took while Carter was playing with the water hose. About halfway through, the dog, Patches, comes up to get a drink of water, and she just about scared Carter to death! So sad, but soooo funny!!

Spray Park Fun!

This afternoon, Carter and I went to meet some of our play group friends at the new spray park in Frisco. All the little ones had a great time, and Carter was no exception. He absolutely loved it. He crawled all over that place about a thousand times. He really put Mommy to work trying to keep up with him. And he didn't even look up once to see where I was... he had no fear! I have a feeling we will be going back quite a bit this summer!

Having so much fun!
Carter's friend, Caroline, is the little cutie way in the back
in the green polka dots!

Love this one!
These next two are cool shots of the water!
He had that tounge out all afternoon!
Whew! Water in the face!

Memorial Day Weekend

Eric had to go out of town this weekend to work a holiday outage, so Carter and I went over to my mom and dad's for a few nights. Sunday night we spent relaxing out on the patio. Carter had a blast playing at his water table and in his pool, and we all enjoyed watching him. Monday we all got together and had a family lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs to celebrate my dad's birthday (that was on Sunday). Then more patio sitting/playing in the water for us later that evening. Once Carter went to bed, Mom and I went to go see Letters to Juliet. It was a great weekend.... just wish Daddy had been with us.

Thank you, Eric, for giving up your weekends and holidays on occasion. I know you don't like it, but you do it anyway to support our family. Even though we'd rather have you with us, we are so grateful to have such a hard working and dedicated Daddy and Husband. We love you so much!

On another note, one of my good friends April, who is pregnant with twins, went into labor on Sunday morning at just 30 weeks. The babies were born via c-section later that day. Abby was 3 lbs 7 oz, and Cohen was 3 lbs 1 oz. They are in the NICU, and it's anticipated they may be for up to 11 weeks. Although they are healthy and seem to be thriving just right for their age and size, please keep them all in our prayers!! And congrats, April and Brad on your adorable little boy and girl!

And now..... pictures.

We Got a New Car!!

Eric and I are really excited about our new car! We are the proud new owners of a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder SE. We looked at it before we went on our cruise, and even negotiated a great deal, but we weren't quite ready to settle yet. Late last week, Eric emailed the salesman and said we were ready to do the deal if he could do a few other things for us. They agreed, so it's done! Eric was able to negotiate them down quite a bit, and negotiate more for our trade in also. It always feels good to know you got a great deal! Anyway, I am really excited to finally be in a larger family vehicle!

Carter checking out the specs... he approves!

Travis and Amanda's Wedding

On Saturday, Eric's best friend (and best man at our wedding) got married! It was a lovely little outdoor ceremony at the Botanic Gardens in Ft. Worth, followed by a yummy lunch with all their family and friends at Papasito's. What a great day! Here are a couple of pictures.

The happy couple - Travis & Amanda Byrum!
So sweet! Proud parents to be.... little Ava is due in August!

Eric was Travis' best man. Love this pic of the 4 of us!!

Later that night, we met them and a few of Amanda's friends for dinner and drinks. It was so great to spend some time with them while they were back in town. They currently live in D.C., but we're hoping they will be moving back to the Dallas area VERY soon! We had a great weekend with them! Congrats, Travis and Amanda! We can't wait to meet that little bundle of joy soon, too!!

The newlyweds!

First Pool Trip of the Summer

Eric and I took Carter down to our neighborhood pool yesterday for the first time this year. We had him in the pool some last summer, but he was only about 3 months old, so I wasn't sure how he would handle it. We started him off by setting him on the big, shallow step. He loved sitting and splashing in the water, just like he does in the bathtub. Then Eric got him in, and Carter absolutely loved every minute of it! Eric would toss him up in the air and catch him on the surface of the water. He loved all the splashing, and he even let Eric do a half dunk under the water. He did so good.... he didn't seem uncomfortable or afraid at all. And I'm glad because he is signed up for swimming lessons in July in preparation for our family trip to Grand Cayman in August. I'm relieved that he seems to be very comfortable in the water, and I think he'll really enjoy being in the pool this summer!
