Cole at 1 Year!

Cole had his 12 month check up this week. No surprise here, but he's your typical healthy, active, cute and silly ONE year old!! He weighed in at 20lb, 14oz, and is 29 inches long. Average weight, but still a little shortie. :)

Here is what Cole is up to at 12 months:
  • He's walking most everywhere now. We still see the butt-up bear crawl often, but it's just because he's so dang fast that way and he knows it!
  • He still eats anything and everything. Loves all fruit, meat, potatoes, cheese, bread, beans, most veggies. He's a little foodie!
  • His other bottom tooth cut through on his 1st birthday, she he officially has two teeth now. About the only thing he doesn't eat a ton of at the moment is snack type stuff (crackers, goldfish, chips, etc). Although he'd really love to, we just haven't ventured there too much yet given that he can't chew up things like that so well. But Dr. Nail says his 4 front teeth on top are very close. so he'll have a mouth full of chompers soon, and then nothing will be off limits!
  • He drinks water from a straw cup, and still takes breast milk from a bottle. I just weaned him officially this week, and that went fine. He did just like Carter and Ella where he sort of started self-weaning around 10 months old, so its been a slow and easy process to quit nursing. We'll start him on whole milk sometime in the next month when my freezer stash runs out. Hopefully that will go smooth, too, and then after that it will be bye-bye botttle! One thing at a time!!
  • Favorite toys and activities are his new little ride on car and cozy coupe car, any and all balls and/or balloons filled with air. He will throw and kick and grab and chase them all over the house. He loves to climb through and under our dining table and benches in the breakfast area, climb on the fireplace hearth, climb on step stools, climb the stairs (seeing a trend here?!), loves to swing at the park and just explore and get into things in general. He recently discovered the trash can in the kitchen and the toilet paper rolls in the bathrooms. He hasn't made too bad of a mess yet with those things, but I know it's coming! He loves to be tickled and chased, and rough housed with by any of us. Even Carter and Ella can get him giggling by doing that. He's just a happy boy who loves to play, and loves us all. Loves to play peekaboo, dance, and listen to music or watch music videos with the big kids.
  • A few words we've heard him say a lot that are now being associated correctly are Mama, Dada, ball, dog and I swear he even said Ella the other day! Sounded like "ewa." So cute and sweet!
  • He still takes an AM nap and a PM nap, although a couple of times he has just gone with one mid-day nap. I'll probably try to transition him over to one nap in the next couple of months.
Cole, it's hard to tell you how much we all love you! You have just fit right into our family perfectly, and this last year spent welcoming you and getting to know you, and relishing in all the joy you have brought us all has been one of the best years of Mommy's life. I love you so, so much.... we all do!!

I snapped some pictures of Cole real quick in the backyard one evening, just to have out for Cole's birthday party, and wanted to post my favorites here. He turned it on big time for about 5 minutes, and I got so many adorable shots of him! Love, love, love this BIG boy!

Cole's 1st Birthday Mustache Bash!

We had family over this weekend to celebrate Cole's 1st birthday with a Mustache themed bash! The only way to celebrate our "Little Man" turning ONE! Here are some pictures of our day.

Mustache decor, so adorable!

I made and decorated cupcakes for the occasion. A real stretch for me, because I always order those! Thought they turned out cute!

Nana made a perfect little mustache smash cake. How cute did that turn out?!
Cole and Aunt Beth
We had to wake him up from a nap to come down and join the party, and he took a little while to warm up to the idea.

Lots of fun gifts for the birthday boy!

 Food spread

Cole hanging outside with both of his Grandpa's
 Big kids chowing down
Hard to beat a yummy hamburger for your 1st birthday meal!

All the kids (yes, even the BIG ones) had fun in the ball pit!

 I'm ready to open these!!

Riding toy from Grandma and Grandpa
Carter, Ella and the twins opened most of Cole's gifts for him :)

Then we brought the big car out, from us and the kids.
So much fun watching him enjoy this! He absolutely loved it!

And the big kids couldn't wait to pushi him around in it.

Checking out his new, pretty sweet ride!
 Almost time for cake!
Love this shot of the 5 of us.

Singing Happy Birthday. Kinda confused, but ok!

 Alrighty, here we go!

Love Carter and Ella's reactions to him digging in.

 Always fun to watch!

 Wow! He didn't mess around!
 Completely demolished!
Now that you've seen the pictures... here he is devouring it in action!Love it!
We put the grandmas on cleaning him up.
"Wait, you're just going to wash all of that cake down the drain?!"

Got a fresh bath and back downstairs to play some more!

Walking, holding something in each hand, and kicking a box. Multi-talented one year old!
 Playing with Uncle Andrew

Cole was truly in the best of moods all day long. I'm sure it was just because he knows exactly how lucky he is to have such a great family to be there to celebrate with him as he turned one. Thanks to each grandparent, great-grandparent, aunt, uncle and cousin that came! We love how you love our little people! Great day!!
