Thanksgiving 2010

We had a very busy Thanksgiving weekend this year! Warning: Picture Overload Ahead!!

On Thursday, Eric and I were lucky enough to get to use my Dad's season tickets to go to the Cowboy game. It was a pretty exciting game, but definitely would've been more fun had the Cowboys pulled off a win. I think this was our first Thanksgiving ever to not celebrate on the actual day of. Eric and I had pizza for lunch at Boston's before the game... ha!

 From our seats....

Friday morning we drove up to Eric's parent's place to celebrate with the Beckman side of the family. Carter had the best time with his cousins! They were so much fun to watch!

Carter and Devin heading down to the lake
They were giving each other hugs ALL day long.... so precious!

 The "kid" table!
They were racing from Eric down the hill to me.... there were a couple of hilarious spills, too!

Love this picture! They were trying to spot turtles on the shoreline
 Sitting on stumps....
 They ♥ their Grandma!
 Boys being boys....

Throwing walnuts in the water.... this was probably the favorite activity of the day.
 Check out the adorable boots!

A little rough-housing after dinner....
Devin wasn't too sure he liked his younger cousin messing with him, but I think secretly he did!
And more hugs!

Saturday we headed to my parent's house. Besides us and my parents, both of my brothers were there, my Grandma, my Aunt and Uncle from Missouri, and my cousin from Austin with his three boys. We had a full house, for sure, with lots of energetic little boys to keep busy. Between the basketball games in the driveway, a bonfire out in the woods, and about 1,000 matchbox cars among other things, there was plenty for them to do!

Proof that I was there too! I'm always the one behind the camera it seems.
 Another yummy thanksgiving dinner!
Grant and Carter play a game of basketball....
 ...and then soccer
...and then play in the leaves.
 Such a great helper!
 Everyone out around the bonfire

 Mmmmm.... s'mores!

Oh look, there I am again! Somehow this is the only family photo we got.
I do really love this picture of the three of us though, even though Carter has a mouth full of graham crackers and I have no make up on!

Hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday weekend! We have so much to be thankful for, and I always love the family time as a reminder of that! Looking forward to Christmas!!

Road Trip to Austin

My brother Andrew is a freshman at UT and is in the UT band. Our whole family traveled down to Austin this weekend to go to the game and spend some time with Andrew. Here are some pictures of our weekend.

Carter hanging out with Uncle Andrew and the BBQ before the game.

Wearing Andrew's hat!
 This cracked me up!!

First try at a family picture.... look at Carter!!
 Second try... much better!

Almost game time... checking everything out!
 Love my sweet boy!
 Cheese!

 Sitting in his own seat
Snacks and lemonade to keep him up! He was so tired!!
Tired boy snuggling with Uncle Matt.

We had a great trip despite the Longhorn loss. Can't wait until the next one!!

New This Week

Carter has really gotten his colors down good this week. I love this!!

Also, another big thing. As most of you know, my boy is not much of a climber... thank goodness. He has recently started trying to climb up onto the couch and the desk chair, and he's pretty much gotten the hang of it. Although I'm proud that he's finally figured it out, I'm not too excited about this new skill. I was hoping it would never come. As you can see, he's pretty excited about his accomplishment!!

My Poor Baby

Carter had a little bit of a rough day today. His allergies were crazy; I know he didn't feel good at all. Also, his bottom molars are FINALLY cutting, and we all know how that goes. Between allergies, runny nose, and molars, you can see why this poor little guy just wasn't happy all day long. After lunch, I was trying to keep him busy while I finished up a few chores around the house, so I put on Sesame Street. He gladly got up on the couch and asked for his "wuddy" (lovey... aka little blue sleepy-time blanket). He looked so cute and happy laying up there (for the first time all day), so much so that I snapped a picture real quick.

A few minutes later:

And a few more minutes later:

If you know my child, you know that he does NOT fall asleep anywhere but his crib and occasionally his car seat. He is not the child you see asleep in their high chair with a plate full of food in front of them. He is not the child who had a still moment on the floor and nodded off. And he is certainly not the child who falls asleep on the couch, sitting up, while watching Elmo. So you can imagine my surprise when I came around the back of the couch and saw this. With all that said, it kind of broke my heart a little.

Happy Halloween!!

As you can see, Carter was Superman for Halloween! We took him trick or treating around our neighborhood for a little while. At first he didn't know what to think, but after a few houses he started to get the hang of it. He seemed to really enjoy it! Once we got home, he helped me hand out candy to our own trick or treaters. He loved having all the kids come to our door and telling them "Hi" and "Bye!"

Almost ready to head out!

Complete with a baseball bucket, we're ready!

Giving me the "cheese" face while heading out the door.
Starting to get the hand of it.
 Lead the way, son!
Enjoying a treat once we got home.... he's already asked for a sucker twice today. GREAT!
