Happy New Year!

Two days late, but Happy New Year to all of you! We had a mellow but fun NYE this year. A few close friends came over and we spent the afternoon and evening BBQing, watching football, and sitting around the outside fire just visiting and enjoying ourselves. Since it's legal out here in the boonies, we shot some fireworks off, too! The adults enjoyed it, but I have to say, I'm pretty sure we traumatized not only our son (who clung to my neck, wrapped his legs around me, and screamed "NO! NO! NO!" with tears streaming down his face), but we traumatized our dog aswell. We were out front shooting a few off around 8:00, when we noticed Stormie had wandered. About that time I got a call on my cell phone from a neighbor asking if we were missing a dog. Stormie had wandered to her house about 3 blocks away. She never even leaves our driveway, so this was a very strange thing for her to do. When we got her back she was acting all shaken and nervous, so we figured the fireworks were too much to handle and she didn't know what to do so she took off! Thankful for my sweet neighbor! We might skip the fireworks next year. =)

Anyway, here are a few pictures from New Year's Eve and Day.

Really starting to love his new climber!
 Ready, set, go!
Helping Daddy get the fire pit ready.....
He kept saying, "Getting STICKS!"
Snack break..... enjoying some "copcorn" and lemonade!
 Hi Daddy!
Such a little boy.... no pile of leaves is safe in my backyard!
The last sunset of 2010 and we had a front row seat!
Trying to get a few pictures with Mommy...
One day I hope to get a picture of us where we're both smiling and he is without a snack or juice cup in hand!
On to fireworks. He was just "okay" with the sparklers. He sure is eyeing it though.
 Starting to enjoy them!
Last picture of me and my boy taken in 2010! It was WAY past bedtime, hence the grumpy face.
Love you sweet man.... you've made this year beyond wonderful for your Daddy and me!!
Can't wait to see all the amazing things you do in 2011!

Christmas 2010

We had a fabulous celebration with the Powell family on Christmas Eve that included the children's service at church, more delicious food and scrumptious deserts than any of us needed, a huge mess of wrapping paper left after the kids tore into their gifts, and a the most fun and hysterically funny game of dice with the best family ever.

Carter and Hayden enjoyed playing with cars all night
Love this little grin! This is his excited/proud grin. I LOVED seeing this each time he opened a new toy he loved.
Playing a little keyboard with Uncle Matt
Such a fun game of dice!
The girl cousins. Caitlin, myself, and Logan
Crazy boys running wild upstairs
Christmas morning at my parent's house

He was SO excited to get his new kitchen!
 Skyping with Grandma and Grandpa
Since we were at my parent's Christmas Eve, Santa came to our house Christmas night, and Carter got to open MORE gifts on the 26th.
There is that adorable grin again!!
He is now in total car heaven!
Look how he lined all his cars up while Eric and I opened our gifts. This cracked me up!!
More sweet grins..... so proud to have a new playset!

This time of year I am always reminded of our many blessings and how lucky we are to have such perfect family and friends. Carter is one lucky little boy to have so many people that adore him, and I have a hundred new toys and no where to put them to prove it! The joy on my baby's face when he opened his new gifts made all the hectic budgeting, searching online, shopping, hiding, and wrapping totally worth all the hard work it took to pull it off!

DPP - Day 19

Carter was a little impatient this morning as he was waiting for Daddy to put together his new fire truck that he got yesterday from his great grandparents! Who needs wheels, anyway?

DPP - Day 18

Yesterday we went to my inlaw's to do the Beckman family Christmas.
Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the day.

Carter loves Elmo, and we definitely glad to see that he got a little talking Elmo doll.

A few rare shots of Momma and Carter. He was feeling snuggly.... and I loved it!!

DPP - Day 17

Friday afternoon Eric and I took Carter to see Santa. I prepared myself beforehand, and was fully expecting a complete and total meltdown. I really thought we were going to walk away with nothing more than a pricey $20 memory of how mean I am to force my child to sit in Santa's lap.

I am SO proud of my boy because he definitely proved his Momma wrong! He was definitely reluctant, but he put on a brave face and even had enough courage to say "Bye Santa" once we were done. I'm sorry I didn't have more faith in you buddy!!

And just for fun, here is Carter's visit with Santa last year.

DPP - Day 16

Umm guys, I don't think that is what the skeeball maching is for.

DPP - Day 15

Yesterday was quite a busy day for me, so I'm just now getting around to posting.

I made some cookies for a Christmas cookie exchange with friends.
Here are my crunchy chocolate peanut butter balls. YUM!
