I've always loved the dark granite counter tops and the slate backsplash we have in our kitchen, but I've never loved the finish of the kitchen cabinets. Last year I started toying with the idea of having them painted to brighten it all up a bit, and last weekend we finally had it done!

We also had the desk area and butler's pantry done, so that just extended the messy chaos to cover most of the downstairs, including blocking us out of our bedroom. 
So stressful living in this with two young kiddos!
But I have to say the finished product made it all worth it!!

We aren't totally finished with it.... we still need to add hardware to all the cabinets and drawers, and I think I'm going to paint each wall that the cabinets are mounted on the same shade of gray that the island is painted. I think that will really make the light cabinets pop! I'm excited to get it all completed, but I'm already loving our lighter and brighter kitchen so much more!!
